It's August 1977 in the UK's Hertfordshire suburbs. During five days, Cyril James' comfortable life is set to change as sexual, racial and religious demons begin to surface. Cyril experiences none of the racial, economic and social tensions all too often associated with his black/British contemporaries. Quite the contrary, he's happily integrated, congenial and an entrepreneur. He's also a liberal Pentecostal. But where does he fit? Not amongst the dominant black culture, he thinks, and neither the church, if they were to know his true nature. As Cyril's ability to conform wanes, he wonders who all his goodness and success is for. Why is the lie so true and the truth so false?
