No one has ever survived the Trial of Champions. The annual event, devised by the devilish Baron Sukumvit, has claimed the lives of many brave adventurers before you. Can you possibly overcome the various traps and puzzles that lie in wait for you in the labyrinth of Fang?

The deadly Dungeon within the labyrinth has captured the hearts of millions (literally!), and is filled with hideous monsters, mindbending puzzles and pitfalls around almost every corner. Only the strongest are likely to have any chance of enduring the tests that lie before you, and along with five other adventurers, this is your year to enter its perilous depths.

It is the 1st May, and along with a knight, two barbarians, an elf-woman and a thief, you are set to go to your inevitable doom. Early on, the dungeon is a relatively pleasant stroll past a few 'lesser' creatures to hone your swordplay against. This doesn't last long however, and the traps begin to come thick and fast after this initial 'gentle' period. There are plenty of places in Deathtrap Dungeon in which you'll lose your life for making a foolish decision.

Aside from the numerous traps awaiting you, there is an incredible array of formidable monsters to fight. These include well known mythical foes such as the Minotaur and the Medusa as well as new enemies: the vicious Manticore and the revolting Bloodbeast. The last two have to be overcome if you are to succeed in your quest, though anybody getting that far with only a modest Skill value might as well start again!

Not content with leaving the monsters to deal with you, Ian has also added a final puzzle at the end! This is one of the few Fighting Fantasy books to actually spawn a sequel. If you weren't scared off first time, you can return to Fang in Trial of Champions. The book also spawned a computer game by Eidos Interactive in the late 1990s.
