I was the sixth of ten surviving children born to my parents in a small town near Gulu, in the northern part of Uganda. When I was four or five years old, my parents divorced. Dad moved to the southern part of the country while Mom stayed in the northern part. They took turns in raising us. Five of us stayed with Mom at a time while the other five stayed with Dad. The word adysfunctionala fits my family to a T. My parents did not see each other after the divorce except once a year while switching custody of us. They fought like cats and dogs the brief period they met. The fighting before and after the divorce passed down to some of us. I am glad to say that I was one of the exceptions, although I developed my own weaknesses and traits that manifested in adulthood causing nightmares in my marriage. The trauma and childhood sufferings I experienced reveal themselves now as unquenchable beasts in my marriage and refuse to die. To compound matters, most of my siblings and I grew under the dictatorship of Idi Amin and suffered irreversible trauma. I still wake up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night from those traumatic experiences. Love and peace to all who read this book.
