Detective Sergeant Tom Hunt is a highly decorated investigator with the New York City Police Department, most notably in solving homicides. He has been awarded the departmentas Medal for Valor as a result of a shooting which took place in midtown Manhattan. He is a quick-thinking investigator, known throughout police jargon as being street smart. He has been known to have had a few martinis while working and to smoke an occasional cigar. He has been married to his wife Sonia for more than thirty years; they have four children and ten grandchildren. He enjoys his work and is not crazy about vacations, in particular cruises. This all changes in this book. His wife has booked them on a cruise to England. They will spend five days at sea, while Tom tries to enjoy his first cruise experience. In this novel, Tom has been called to the bridge by the captain of the ship. There has been a murder, and the captain has asked Tom to help preserve the crime scene as well as begin an investigation as to who may be responsible, while awaiting the arrival of the Coast Guard. Tom will need help as there are 2800 passengers and approximately 1200 crew members; one of them is the killer.
