Two ladies, both 73 years old, a black professor from Yale and a white medical doctor, owner of a wood empire, tell biographies. Their lives were full of attraction and atrocity, i.e. love affairs, blackmail, even murder. The localities are parks with giant trees as well as American, Indonesian and Namibian forests and brushes. A foundling is the reason for the writing. From her home in New Haven, Connecticut, Professor Emeritus Mia Pembroke describes her life in four emails; i.e. youth and student years, three special jobs for the US Government, teaching at Yale history and philosophy as well as her life as a pensioner. Mia is a black woman and her pen-friend is Jenny Gabriel, a white doctor of economics and biology, the owner of a huge forest and wood empire in California.
