About the Author: Sherri Lackey

Sherri was born in the town of Carlsbad, New Mexico, growing up there and in West Texas where her parents owned a fast food restaurant (The Dairy Twist) and Mexican food restaurant (The Spot).

While growing up in those two places of business, her imagination went out of control, thereby shaping her into the scifi/fantasy writer that she is today.

Later, she met a boy named Paul who was just as strange as she was. They lost touch for several years, meeting up again at New Mexico State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in history and he received a Master of Business Administration. They married and rode off into the sunset.

That was not the end of their story but only the beginning.

On the surface, Maloree seems like just another Molornu slave of the Armorian Empire. She lives a quiet, sheltered existence as the illegitimate daughter of a Corian Lord. But among her people, Maloree is the subject of rumors. Some say she is a forest changeling and not a true Molornu. Others accuse her of mind manipulation. Though Maloree tries to dismiss the speculation, she canat ignore the voices that echo inside her mind. But when the black ships arrive from beyond the Armorian sky and threaten to annihilate both the Corian and Molornu peoples, Maloree discovers a power within herself that may save the population from extinction and forever alter the course of her world.
