About the Author: William C. Seigler

Born in Anderson, South Carolina; William discovered early on, a desire to see the world. While in the Army, he lived on the economy in Germany and worked on his German while making friends with the locals. He backpacked in the Black Forest, visited the World War II concentration camp at Buchenwald, drank excellent beer at Oktoberfest in Munich, day hiked in the Swiss Alps, met a beautiful girl in Paris, ate fish and chips late at night in London, and walked on the Acropolis in Athens.
Later, William traveled by ship to Antarctica on a magazine assignment, free-lanced travel articles for El Paso newspapers, and flew cargo jets in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. He received a MS in geology from the University of Texas at El Paso and now teaches geology at Weatherford College in Texas when not writing, bow hunting, or kayak fishing.
William somehow managed to marry the prettiest Mexican girl and best cook west of the Pecos. He weaves these experiences and the people met into his tales. These stories often deal with men and women struggling to live their lives free from a variety of statists.

Mark Free is not a happy man. His plans to become an astronaut have not worked out. Instead, he goes into business, a dangerous move given the times. He sits on the board at the museum where the private space hardware, bought" by the government after private enterprise in space had been outlawed, is kept. Mark's people refurbish a spacecraft and secret it to Mexico. After almost being caught on the ground in a raid, and nearly going mad on the long flight, Mark makes a survivable landing. It is a one way trip; he plans never to return. RUSPAC, which allows the US to send a few people to their space station, launches its own mission to Mars and plans to rescue the stranded American. Mark, however, has no desire to be rescued and no intent of being taken alive."
