About the Author: K.H. Rennie

I love to write about the sea. My first novel Maclay: A Novel was based on the true story of a Russian explorer who traveled from St Petersburg to New Guinea in 1840. This book gave me the opportunity to research his sea voyage by sailing ship, ports along the way, points of view of different characters both real and imaginary, and the significance of the sea to humanity at the time.

My first fantasy novel, Triton’s Deep, is set in a world where the sea has claimed back most of the land, where the people are mutating, or appear to be, into beings who have strange abilities more akin to the fishes from which we humans first evolved. In this new novel I get deep below the surface with my characters and explore the sea gods’ realm.

Fantasy, or speculative fiction, gives me the opportunity to wander through any singularity I might care to imagine. It doesn’t have to be totally believable, all that’s necessary is to make it into the kind of story that will resonate with readers and provide a link to one of the myriad pasts or futures it’s possible for the imaginative mind to consider. I hope you’ll take this new journey with me.
