He studied Literature and Writing at the University of California, San Diego, where he wrote hybrid fiction for the campus literary journal Abbdabbs and collected the University’s annual John L. Stewart Prize for Literature before graduation.
In 2011, James Riley published his first novel Hill People, an urban fantasy blending family drama with magic realism and hints of sci fi.
